A couple of tempters for anyone with a really long wait for their GTI.....available now....(clearly demos)....

Tempting...

Actually, sod that. I got £3600 discount (> 12%) on my GTI. I'd never get that with one of these cars. I'll wait the 3-4 months cos it's not the end of the World!

The second one is about 2miles from where I live. Full RRP (inc full RRP of the options added) for a 2nd hand demo that doesn't have ADC, potentially 10k miles and will have been thrashed by enthusiastic test-drivers? It's not available until October - some people could order a new one from a dealership that hasn't dipped far into it's allocation and get a brand new one before then. You'd have to be crazy to pay what they're asking for that.

At least the Lookers one is available right now for the most impatient among us, but it states it has ADC and it clearly doesn't. The pic looks through the grille and just looks like the radiator behind it where the ADC would be if it were there.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

...Well tomorrow I guess. It was in the showroom. Looks lovely in blue I have to say. Like navy blue suit with a red tie :)

I asked the dealer "is it a demo?". He said no. I said "Can I buy it today?" He said "Yes you can have it today"

Pics

It seems odd that the demo has the radar and the showroom model doesn't suggesting that the cars were registered the wrong way round.

(Although titanium silver looks amazing in real life too)

Where did you see this? I always thought a titanium silver GTI would bring out the best of the back tints. Silver used to be a very popular car colour once, seems to have gone out of fashion of late.

It was on a GT in walsall the other day, looked crackin!!

Is that the sat nav pro in the Lookers one?

CraigW: Not sure how much different normal nav looks from nav pro.

If I were to jump the queue i'd rather have the Pure White GTI (proper UK spec with ADC) on 19" Santiagos and some other bits I didn't identify (that added £1300ish to the purchase price) that is unregistered at Scotswood Road Benfield.

Seems a few unallocated GTIs are coming up through the North East dealerships (mcmaddy has just seen one in Pulman that isn't the demo) - GTIs less popular in the north east than GTDs, leaving unused GTI allocation that the dealerships are using to buy stock cars?

More fuel for the colour fire!

Was thinking about this claim that white is very common while having my lunch.  I decided to count the cars in the office car park (yes I know :nerd:):

White: 5
Silver: ~50
Black: ~25
Grey: ~30
Blue/Red/other: 30 (but this is more of a guess)

So we're talking about less than 4% white... at my specific office.  Silver was by far the most popular.

I also noted that silver and the blue/red/other tended to be on basic, non-stand out cars.  The more expensive stuff like BMW, Mercs was black or grey.  Of the 5 white cars 4 were unremarkable (things like a Polo and a Qashqai) only one was something you might admire (it was a beemer).

Also before this I was in the local Tesco.  Have to say I started looking at the dark grey cars and compared to the white ones they really didn't look great.  Its much harder translating this in my mind to how CSG compares to pure white on a GTI, I still think CSG looks awesome.

Not claiming this is representative of the whole country, or even the region of course.

Definitely not representative of Newcastle upon Tyne. The only newish cars that aren't White/Silver/Grey/Black seem to be the hordes of Burnt Orange or Burgundy Nissan Jukes and Qashquais that are seen around here. Nissan popularity in Tyne and Wear seems to stem from the proximity of the Sunderland Nissan plant. Get a little way out from the catchment area of teh plant for employment (like Teesside) and the number of Nissans seem to drop considerably.

Big cars like BMW 3/5 and Audi's larger than A3 look sh!te in white - for some reason metallic blues and greys seem to suit them far better.

There's a lot of white cars in my area (North Herts) but I put that down to the Essex factor creeping into the county   :lipsrsealed:

Cannot find a single picture of a reflex silver GTI. Only one is a Golf 7 here.
