Service Plan [or whatever it's called!]
« on: 18 June 2013, 12:51 »
My car is just on 3 years old so it went in to the local dealer yesterday for it's third [and final] service covered under the 'plan' I subscribed to when I bought it.  When I booked the car in they asked if I wanted the brake fluid changed as that was recommended [but not covered?] and was chargeable.  Seeing as though I've the fluid to renew on my bike in a couple of weeks I declined.

I asked them to do the MOT too rather than do it independantly.

When I picked the car up yesterday, there was no charge for the brake fluid or the MOT.

I hadn't realised that the Service Plan covered the MOT and brake fluid, something of a result!

Downside is the 'Service Due' indicator tells me it should happen in 10 days - I'm guessing they haven't reset this?

Sounds like it. You'll have to ask them to reset the Service due indicator on the MFD.

Seems a bit odd that they said brake fluid change was not covered and was chargable when it is covered in the Service Plan.  Did they acutally carry out the brake fluid change then?

I don't think the MOT is in with the service plan they just did that as a customer service. They do an MOT for life but thats a different service plan.

I had mine in for its 3rd service under the service plan back in January. I asked if the brake fluid change was part of the service plan they said it was, ok please change the brake fluid, I had it MOTed as well while it was in.

After it was finished I paid £49 for the MOT and went out to the car to check the service schedule. Brake fluid changed NO, I went back in. The service schedule says no brake fluid change, she went away to ask the tech. Sorry we forgot to change the brake fluid we will bring it back in and change it, Stoke Volkswagen tossers.

I said on both previous services your ticked longlife oil used this time you haven't why? She fetched another bloke over and he said they still use longlife oil but we don't have to show it on the service schedule.

You should be able to reset the service in the MFD settings unless you want to take it back.

The brake fluid was changed.  Odd though that they wanted to charge me!

New problem this morning, the Cat warning light is on.  I'm guessing when checking MOT emissions they must do something that may have triggered this warning light?

Got to go back to the dealer anyway for the Service Internal reset.

What a pain!

My 2yr service plan I bought 2 years ago *didn't * include the brake fluid change, which I had to pay £69 for a few weeks ago. I bought a further 2 year plan for £379 which includes 1 full service and 1 intermediate service * and * 2 MOT's.

At my last service I was told there was an alarm sounder fault logged - and they changed the sounder. Since then I now have the 'dial sweep' when ignition switches on, also twice I've had 'ESP fault code logged' flash up on the dash - they've read the fault codes and said there's *no* ESP fault logged (!) But an alarm sounder fault...... Not cleared evidently when they changed the sounder last time!.... And drivers side rear window refused to work at all.... Until by sheer luck I did a convenience remote unlock twice in succession and must have reset the window elves as it now works fine?!?
Now don't ask why I took out another service plan

I find on my GTD if I am too hasty at turning the ignition on I can repeatedly get the 'ESP fault' on the dash, although I never get a fault code for it. I assume its just not ready yet and leaving the ignition at the 2 for a couple of seconds stops it from appearing.
