Testing the 99p lens!
« on: 18 June 2013, 09:25 »
As some of you know, I won a 135mm 2.8 Hoya Minolta MD lens on eBay a couple of weeks ago!

Bought an adapter for a couple of pound (with glass) to test it and it works great! Such a beautiful lens, think I have found my favorite! :D

(The test subject is my MK2 Golf)

If you like this image, please favorite it or leave me a comment/note.

Looks hazy in the middle to me and a bit discoloured?

Sorry.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

+1 on the above, like the shot though.

Discoloured? I have pulled the saturation down so the trees aren't blaring green and distracting?

Also I used spot metering on the darker part of the car to get a true exposure for the car, so it is slightly over exposed for the rest of the image if that's what you mean?

Colouring looks ok to me, as to be expected with older Minolta glass.
But I think he means the change in green in the middle of the shot where it looks rather hazy. It's also hazy round the roof of the car.

Otherwise it's a good shot and composition.
Slightly faster shutter speed to counter the movement in the trees (the one top right above the car).

It would be interesting to see how it coped with people and what the sharpness was like.

So what was the total cost of the lens, including postage and adaptor?

My recent M42 lens cost me £10.88 including postage and adaptor.

99p for the lens, £4 postage and £3 incl p&p for the adapter. So £7.99 :D

The lights being on and different brightness distracts from the image IMO

Got a link to where you got the adapter from?

This is where I'm seeing the discolouration:

It was a seller on eBay but just a normal person, lucky really, had one still in the bag, bid on it and won!

Strange that, I see it now, will have to do more tests. Wonder if it is because the headlights are shining directly at me? Like sun flare but much less?
