help!
« on: 17 June 2013, 22:16 »
Hi there,
Iam new on this site and would like to ask a couple of questions,

1. Iam currently driving a vw golf mk4 1.8t (150bhp standard), i bought it off a mate just before Christmas it has had some mods done to it but unsure what bhp it has, iam just wondering whether your guys could give me a rough estimate?

The mods are:

K04 turbo upgrade
Dump valve
Full Miltek exhaust from cat back
Remap by R-TECH
Lowered by 40mm front 30mm rear on eibach springs
Any ideas?

Plus for some reason the brakes have not been upgraded, iam currently looking at Mintex grooved and drilled discs and pads or EBC green stuff pads with grooved and drilled discs, will these be good enough? anyone had any problems or issues with these discs and pads? any ideas are appriciated!

Thanks

Thanks for replying,

I was thinking in the region of 210 - 230 max bhp, I dont think they are good discs and pads tbh, they have plenty of wear on them hence why I haven't changed them yet! I think it has had a uprated fuel pump but just std intercooler pal, std hoses but looking into changing them really! Ive booked it at minisport rolling rd (nearest rolling rd to me) on the 6th july so should find out exactly what its putting out! Also what is the best induction kit to go for?

Thanks again lads

Not sure how these are on a mk4 Golf GTi however on my Clio 172 when the time for new discs and pads came I opted for Brembo HC solid discs with Mintex 1144 pads on the front. Rears I left standard. I found this to be a good upgrade.
Got the same discs and pads now for my Golf coupled with braided lines and new fluid, just waiting for a free day to fit the lot. Hoping the results are similar.

Reference the brakes, look at the 312mm upgrade makes a lot of difference
