Already on the register but here it is anyway.
Was there a plaque or a way of getting one for the anni?

A lot more I think. I would not say they are unique at all,

KW V2, TEAM DYNAMICS PRO RACE 1.2, EIBACH ARBS, DS 2500 PADS, BLACK DIAMOND DISCS, LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL, CHIPPED ECU, VIBRA TECHNIC MOUNTS, JETEX DECAT,  FULLY POLYBUSHED
163 BHP (TSR POWER RUN)

Of course tey are unique all the modifications and stylin they come with as standard and the fact that on my insurance it says golf gti anniversary makes it different to a non anniversary model

VW uk still say only 750 were sold in the UK....and 1000 Jubi models for Germany (as they also got the tdi engine model)

I think VW are honest and the numbers given are correct? I have seen lots advertised as Anniversary models when they only have a few of the anni parts fitted (factory options possibly?)

All I ever hear from colleagues and friends when they get in is 'red seat belts- what a chav'

and from the mrs- 'I don't like driving your car, it's too boy racer' although the only external mods are the Hella celis lights and 40mm drop coilovers

Still I love the Anni features, and if I had bought a standard GTI I probably would have kitted out the BBS wheels as they look so great on the MK3.

i liked my 8v anni so much i went out and bought a 16v anni as well, i think ive got some sick addiction to buying and restoring annis that have rare trim parts that cost silly money to source!!!

Sometimes though having an anni works against you because you want to keep it looking OE but i also like mk3's that are slammed on wide wheels, i couldn't do that to mine.

They are not my friend. There are loads down my way. Plus its not hard to find anni bits. Always loads on ebay. The 16v ones are rarer

Genuine anniversary's have the vehicle as a 'Golf Anniversary' on the log book rather than just 'Golf'. I suspect the 750 figure is true. People who own an anniversary generally cherish them as something special, hence there are still quite a few about.

I actually bought my 16v Anniversary with a view initially to sell all of the Anniversary bits and end up with a free low mileage 16v Golf lol. I worked out that if I flogged all the 'anni' bits and stuck on standard parts which I have stashed away in the garage I would get more than I paid for the whole car and still have a complete car at the end. Fortunately I am not quite as skint as I was so can afford to keep it as the anni.
