Where did you buy it from? There's a canon outlet on egay but that's all I could see.

That's where mine came from. Was in as new condition and  in retail box as well.

I'll keep an eye out on that website. Am tempted to get a 60D now and then wait for the new 7D MKii which will probably be out next year or the year after. Would allow me to get used to dSLRs in the meantime. What do you guys think?

You could keep on waiting and waiting!

I'd go and play with a 60D and 7d and see how you get on.

Or go for an older 50d and have lots of dosh for some nice glass.

All of this.  Also get on talkphotography and post some stuff, talk to some people so you have some posts and after a couple of months the classifieds will open up to you and they are definitely worth it.  It's where my 5D2 and 24-70 F2.8L came from.

Buying from enthusiasts is definitely better than buying from ebay.

Also don't sweat the repair work on bodies and lenses - shutter mech replacement on 5D2 = £200ish.

SLRs aren't like most consumer electronics - you don't throw them away when they go wrong!
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Awesome. I don't know many photography forums - there's POTN and dpreview, and I'm signed up to digital photography school.

I've read about flashcameras.co.uk as well which I believe is kerso off talkphotography? Had a look at getting a 60D from his website for £510.

Having researched a little on lenses, it seems more difficult to choose the right glass than choosing a camera!

If you're buying a crop body then 17-55mm F2.8 us going to be the kiddie for you.

Definitely what I'd pick up if I was going to remain on crop.

The L series 24-105mm F4 ?

Very good lens. But 24mm on a crop sensor isn't that wide, not in comparison to a 17/18mm on a 17-55mm.
Also F4 on a crop sensor isn't going to give you very good low light capabilities. But if you also get something like a 35mm or 50mm f1.8 prime, then you'd have that covered.

I have a mate with a 7D who uses a 24-105 as his main walkabout lens.  Loves it.  Guess it's what you're used to.  I used the 10-22mm lens on my 500D most of the time and loved the width on it.

But if you also get something like a 35mm or 50mm f1.8 prime, then you'd have that covered.

35mm is going to be a lot more usable.
