Some things I'd like to know about the X1:

1. You have to have the online check in for games to be able to play them. What will happen say 10 yrs down the line when the new next-gen system comes out? Will they shut down the servers, rendering the console unusable? Will they create a patch stopping the need for check in? What about games that require online DRM?

2. If every X1 has to be able to check in, will they have enough servers to cope? IIRC the SimCity game required something similar to play and crashed because the servers were overloaded. At the moment, not everyone who has an Xbox 360 plays/goes online.

In response to your first question, all reps for MS have all been asked that question or similar, and in response the answer has been "we have only just started this generation". I know what you're saying but I doubt they will shut them all the way off like that, they wouldn't be allowed to unless they provided some form of offline mode.

The second question, MS have stated they have 300,000 servers ready for this next generation. I don't know specifics but I imagine they will be prepared for such a scenario.

i too not afraid of change but the xbox stupid trade in 2nd hand games etc is the killer this is fact. the stats show this allready. im a big xbox fan always had em but not anymore i know no one near me who now buying a xbox one. Sony have made it very clear there games and console are ''normal'' most people have laptops and internet TVs for the gimicy stuff. i want a decent console that can play games properly and not summit i talk to etc. and want to swap and borrow games with out paying £30 lol.

Have you looked into the Famoly Sharing feature? That is the very definition of being able to borrow games for the next gen.

Example, if I buy Forza Motorsport 5 and you are on my friends list and in my circle of the Family Sharing, you can play it with me at the same time! Even if I'm not playing it you can still play it so long as none of my other friends playing it already. One person to play any given game at a time, just like of you borrowed a game today. Except both of you get of play it on your own consoles.

Also, if your Dad isn't online, he can still tether his phone to he One to do the daily check in.

I really think people are too quick to judge rather than reading the facts, instead they are jumping on the bandwagon as Sony have said they will not be doing the same. However, they will follow in MS's footsteps, and then what's going to happen? People will backlash at them.

the sharing feature acording to the e3 show is only for 1 person that it. and like say we shouldnt ''have'' to link phones or internet to it etc. it a games console not a pc. like you say if sony turn out same it going to be rather annoying but as they have made it clear it a simple games console with normal trade in etc. and the ps4 £100.00 cheaper which is important too. xbox have lost sh!t loads of pre orders due the DRM and price and specs etc over the ps4. sony have done what xbox did 6 years ago when xbox 360 shat on sony ps3 parade. the tables have turned this time

I guess only time will tell. At the end of the day I'm happy with the choice I've made because it all makes sense to me.

Sony fans will be happy with their choice (until Sony sh!t on their fans with DRM in the future).
