Lumpy idle and miss fire

On my way home yesterday I developed a miss fire. I never bothered looking into it until this afternoon. The miss fire seems to be intermittent now and my idle is very lumpy.

Being new to VW, I can only assume this is fairly common and a easy fix, what ever the problem is ?

What engine? Scan for fault codes as a first step.

the lumpy idle may be the throttle body needing a reset, if you have AUM (and may work for other codes) then its easy, open the bonnet and turn the ignition onto the second click, make sure you leave the drivers door open when doing all this... put your ear next to the throttle body and you should be able to hear it tweaking its self, then start the car.
if that dose not work the take the pipe off the TB and look to see if you can see and dirt on the TB is give it a clean and repeat the process. should sove the problem

A throttle body reset?! Please explain the logic there...

My guess would be a coilpack but as I said before, first step would be to scan for fault codes.

Just been for a test drive. Now she is driving rough at low revs and the ecu light came on a few times ?

Its a V5

Anyway, I think it is a coil pack. I decided to pull them off 1 by 1 starting from the left, I only got to the second one and there was no change to engine when I pull the coil out

Most likely coil pack then, usernames don't always relate to current cars hence why I asked

Not the best start to my Golf experience then. Only had the car since Wednesday

Scan it and it will tell you which coilnpack it is..

My username says navmk4gti but i have a 4motion just for the record
