I'm rather partial to a Leon myself.
Me too, in fact i was looking at cupra r's on autotrader last night and being suprised at how cheap they are...supposedly better nailed together than golf 4's too. ..

disagree, it looks too pointy, to many angles on it , not enough curves, infact i think the new leon looks cheap......
Google it and look at the white one with the half black roof, i think thats a great looking car.

That would be a Mk 5 then?

I really like the Mk 7. My old man has just collected a silver Mk7 GT...and it's stunning.
Better built than a 6, better spec, quieter, better on fuel etc.
Having a spin in it tomorrow to see what I think...but next to my Mk6 GTI or Mk5 GT, it just looks so fresh and classy.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

The Mk7 GT is either a 2.0 150 BHP TDI or 1.4 140 BHP petrol with cylinder de-activation.

The old mans is a 150 TDI DSG. £30 a year road tax (£20 for manual), 60+ MPG and a reasonable turn of pace. Lots of spec though, and looks good in silver with the 17" wheels (the minimum size to look any good in my book - but would look better with 18s or 19s).

It replaced a 2.0 170 TDI Mk5...which is noticably quicker...but looks dated and appears cheap and nasty inside next to the Mk7.
