What colour is CSG?

Metallic dark grey or carbon steel grey to give it s official title

Cheers, that's been doing my head in as newbie.

So how close is CSG to the old Atlas Grey of the Mk2?
Looks fairly close to me. Reason I ask it that I like the look of CSG in pictures, but never liked my Atlas Grey...

If the picture of your mk2 GTI is a fairly good representation of Atlas Grey, then I'd say that Carbon Grey and Atlas Grey are quite different. I always think that Carbon Grey has a slight green tint to it, which becomes more obvious in bright light. Video clips below are a fairly good representation of Carbon Grey; the 2nd clip showing what it looks like in bright, sunny conditions.

I really like Carbon Grey, but then I am biased (see signature!)

Oops, sorry! Off topic, but that mk2 GTI looks pretty tidy. Never had a mk2 GTI and always wanted one, so would have been more than happy to have had one in Atlas Grey.

Got the week off work so was bored this morning and decided to go down the VW dealer to have a nosey as I have a GTD on order (with different dealer) and havent seen a GTI/D in the flesh yet.......

They had a 3DR CSG non-PP Manual pre-release (no ADC) GTI as a demo car and thought it would be rude not to take her for a spin.

The car was pretty dirty (dealer was very apologetic and said it hadn't been washed in a while and the manager had it out all last week).

All I can say is WOW!!!!

CSG looked amazing even though the car was pretty filthy (pics below).

I've never driven a 'performance' car before (apart from a 2 hour blast in a Ferrari 360 2 weeks ago which is a story for another day) and have had 3 Diesel Golfs in my years driving to date. The sound from the engine/exhaust from 4k revs and above is just addictive. The power is superb.

I got a 20 mins blast of back roads and dual carriage ways with the dealer in the back (and holding on during some of the squirts of acceleration and flying round corners I did lol).

Manual box is the usual VW supreme (by usual I don't mean run of the mill in any way - I drive a lot of manual hire cars and think the VW gearbox is best by far).

My order is still staying GTD though for a few reasons:
- I don't like the standard 18" Alloys and if I were to go for the 19's I think I'd have to add ACC (adding £1800)
- I don't like the red Jacara (I do like the grey in the GTD) so would opt for leather (adding another £1800 or so). Honestly though I could probably live with it and get to love it.
- I have an unconfirmed build week of 38 and don't want to upset it!

The main reason I would change to a GTI though is the power and noise of the thing but I dont think I'd get to use the power as much as I'd like to justify.

Was surprised that there was only about £150 price difference in insurance between the GTI with PP and GTD.

Dealer told me if I ordered today it would be a Feb delivery.

Insurance is a strange thing - the standard GTI is actually £15 a year less insurance for me than the GTD, PP is £5 a year less.

That is one filthy demo - they should be doing all they can to display the car at it's best.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I just got a quote for my new GTI to get an idea of what to expect, and it is less than what I'm paying now - more great news on top of my car going into transit!

The GTI demonstrator near me is in CSG too, it's a nice colour, but not one I'd opt for.  Gotta' say though, the night blue shown previously looks nice in that picture, but again, not a colour I'd want to own.

In fairiness it was 1st thing on a Monday morning and the manager had it out all last week. Dealer was very apologetic about the state of it and I'm sure it was straight into the wash bay once I was gone!
