Everytime I see a white GTI, it assures me that bit more that I went for the right colour choice.

TR is honestly doing the opposite.

I'm very sceptical of the usefulness of pictures for deciding on colours.  I still haven't been able to see my chosen white on a GTI but even on other models like the Polos and my local dealer it looks good.  The only one that has made me sit up so far is the night blue.  I thought the pics posted of a couple of demos in that colour looked super, although I think I was in the minority on this view!

Anyway, like you I was not a fan of TR.  Seems like the red highlights are wasted on it and doesn't feel special enough.  But, when I saw it in person on my local dealer's demo GTI I started to think it actually looks damn good.  It really suits the car.

I still think white is the best though, and if not really who cares?  You don't spend ages gazing at the outside of your GTI so unless you pick a colour you end up hating it doesn't matter as much as most other things.  Also most of us aren't going to be parking next to another GTI, so its unlikely to be compared directly anyway.

I dont really agree. I think colour is very important as when you leave the car or you aproach it it can make the difference on if it makes you smile and think I really like the way that looks its all personal taste and choice though everyone is different on what they really like.. No disrespect to anyone but I personally would not have the same  glow and feeling if I had gone for a colour I did not really like when buying a brand new car I dont see the point in a new car if its not as you want it.

Totally agree Snoopy. In fact when I was considering ordering my mk6, the colour choice was no. 1 on my list and the first thing I decided upon, followed by what options I wanted. Would I have taken the same spec car but in a different colour if it had reduced the waiting time? If it had been my second colour choice, maybe, but other colours, probably not.

Snoopy: I agree colour is important and it's the only thing other people see of your car.

Bill: I made both videos of the Night Blue and Pure White at each of my test drives (posted them too). I can tell you both are beautiful in person. The blue looked more 'aggressive' but that was probably because of the fact it was a 3 door.

In the end I chose white as it looks great and is easier to keep clean compared to a dark colour. If I had a butler I would without question have chosen black :)

Okay, so this car now has about 90 miles on the clock.

I've not driven the mk6 GTI a massive amount, but these feels a class above it. The new Golf steering wheel is a fantastic!
We have some very good windy roads near our dealership which I took it out on last night and it is extremely fun to drive, handles great, and sounds fantastic. Performance pack is a must!
Took it to one of our other branches today for a stock review, with a 60 mile round trip on the motorway which was okay. Can't really test the car on the motorway. Impressed at how refined it was, and pulls very well in 5/6th if you put your foot down at 70.

What's going to annoy you all the most is.

I think I prefer my Passat CC...
