depends on what your after....

you wrote: engine loom and ecu - since there's no comma i assume you're after an engine loom and an ecu...
not an engine, a loom and an ecu

if you're after only loom and ecu they need to match the engine you have. if you're after a complete engine with bits then doesn't really matter too much.

I have 1.8 cl at the moment I want to do engine swap to a 2l 8v so I am going to need engine/loom/ecu.

I'll be honest, not worth the hassle for an 8V swap. You can buy 8V cheap. Plus it'll have gti brakes and all that crap on it too.

If it was me, I'd just buy an 8V GTI.

You're talking about an easy done in a day swap. I'd say it's worth it all day long.

Condition of the SHELL you intend putting any engine into ?

My shell really clean and the cars how I want it to look. For me it's worth doing swap 1 so I keep car and 2 I can say I have done a swap lol
