Heavy steering?
« on: 31 May 2013, 20:26 »
My mk3 gti seems to have heavy steering. I've owned quite a few mk3's before and although the power steering is obviously working the steering feels a little bit heavy? It's almost as if the tyres need inflating more but they're at 32psi so it can't be that? Any ideas?

how old's the belt?

people seem to spray oil of them to make them stop squeeling.... oily belts are no good for transferring force though...

I don't know, I've only just got it. But now I know a couple of things to check

Other options could be a stiff track rod end due to corrosion. A crushed pipe or even worn seals in rhe rack.

Check the belt condition and make sure it is not slipping
