12gb ps3

Anyone brought a 12gb ps3 and put in a 500gb or 1tb hardrive

My 60gb ps3 has ylod and sony said they no longer can replace 60gb well gutted but offering a 250gb for £160. So i told them politely hell no .. so its up on ebay as faulty. Im thinking get a 12gb as there pretty cheap.. 130ish mark new. And put a hardrive in.

Anyone got one had any problems? On my 3rd ps3 arghhh

Yes can be done. My old PS3 had a 40GB HDD that I upgrade to 250GB. For the new PS3 super slim, I got the 12GB and bought this off amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009CV1OVC/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That'll hold your old HDD and there's an empty slot in the 12GB PS3. Youtube for videos.

How long have you had urs bud any probs it after putting in hardrive? My 12gb ps3 should here tomorow will order that caddy for hardrive too

No problems. I had backed up the info off the old PS3 before the YLOD was permanent.

I didn't even bother to start up the PS3 before I installed the hard drive. Just bung it into the caddy, bung the caddy into the PS3, start up the PS3. IIRC you do have to tell the PS3 to use the HDD and not the onboard 12GB memory. After that, it auto-installed the software and I was good to go.

Been up and running three months now.

I saw some youtube guides and they say too switch on the ps3 first and let it install software then install hardrive and you have to download the software file on a usb and then to boot the ps3 from the hardrive with the usb in

Im.propa gutted as i lost all my data. Mainly was black ops2 was prestige 6 aswell

I didn't do any of that crap - but I did back up the old PS3 data.

I play BLOPS2 online and the online multiplayer process is linked to your psn account, not the console. Hence I just installed BLOPS2 on the new PS3, signed in and when I went to play multiplayer, it synced to the online account.

It is all stored online with your PSN user name etc 

I'd have lost nearly 40 days game play if PSN didn't store it all when I switched to the slim!

my ps3 has died 3 times now grrrrr,but to my relief when started using it again all online data was stored phewwwww

Just put 250gb hardrive in the ps3 gonna fire it up nw fingers crossed first thing im do is get on blak ops 2
