What does it do that isn't already being done?

Supposed to prevent blow by gases and vapours entering the engine and encouraging build up on intake valves.

You have to empty it yourself.

The stock system routes vapour back into the intake.

Do you have to make cut-outs in the engine cover to install the Revo can? Apparently the 034Motorsport one can be fitted without making any cut-outs [But it costs £361 as opposed to £236 for the Revo] http://www.dubtechshop.co.uk/catch-can-kit-8j8p-audi-tta3--mkv-volkswagen-gtigli-20t-fsi-3045-p.asp
Been reading up on these as I wasn't aware they existed as a kit to buy; according to several threads I've read on different forums it doesn't make that much difference to build-up on the valves, but is, quote "designed to prevent oil from depositing in the intake manifold and intake valves, resulting in drastically reduced carbon build-up and extended life of the intake manifold flapper assembly".
Sounds useful, I may invest in one.

How many engines have actually suffered from this...
