« on: 29 May 2013, 13:30 »
Bonnet sound deadening? Any recommendations? Which material? ebay, amazon links? :) would rather have new stuff than go to the scrappy.

Cheers.

get the mats from a diesel, straight fit with no messing around and probably best sound deadening too.

I cant see how that will work. You sure its not insulation?

I work on sites and sometimes my job is to make sure the internal walls make the dB levels etc. Boring crap.
Anyway what ever you put under the bonnet wont do anything as engine noise will just bounce off the road. It wont do anything for inside the car. So its not worth doing mate

Although coupled with a TDI/16v engine undertray may make the tiniest bit of difference. Mine came with both as standard but I'm sceptical.

Ah... Maybe some on the firewall though? Would that help? Or is it already covered? Probably gonna do the benches and boot with some 2 mm silent coat

Firewall would be worth doing along with the rest of the interior. I need to get some Silent coat for mine as the older I get the less tolerant I'm getting with excess wind and road noise.

I removed mine last week as my filter is in a sh!te place at the mo and the sound deadening was effectively blocking some of the air flow to it.Engine noise is slightly louder especially the 008, its starting to annoy me PTSSSSH
On the plus I think it will be slightly cooler in the bay and it looks cleaner.
