Is it a Clutch problem - Any ideas
« on: 08 August 2005, 13:59 »
 :undecided:

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this post.

I have a Golf Mk3 Driver 1.8, had a couple of months now and love it to bits, wanted a GTI but insureance wasn't nice to me!

Anyways, since i have had the car the cluch always seemed high to bite, and very difficult after 30+ mile journeys.  If i've been driving a long time it's increasingly difficult to pull away smoothly in 1st and second gear.

Does anyone know if this is a big problem/small problem.  I'm not up on cars so would have to be a garage to help repair hence why i'm asking on here before potentially being swindled for cash i haven't got!

If you need anymore symptoms/questions please post back and i will respond quickly!

Thanks again.

Paul

Unfortunately I cant tell u why its doing it, but might reassure you to know that all mk3's I have driven (8v's & VR6's) have had a high biting point compared to other cars I've owned - I just presume its just the way they are! (Or all the clutches were on the way out!! I doubt it tho!)

As for pulling away smoothly, I know what u mean, but guess they just take some getting used to!

Thanks for the reply.  This is the 2nd golf, agreed the clutch is quite high but i have no real problems with smooth take off in 1st when it's cold, just seems the longer it's driven, the harder it is to come out smooth in first and second.

Any other help?
