How much for wishbone replacement?
« on: 27 May 2013, 13:03 »
Just been investigating a bit of a graunching sound that happens when I turn the wheel and it seems that the passenger side front wishbone has quite a few rubbers that are well and truly past it.

Just wondering if anyone knows roughly how much Im looking at for a garage to do it?

Ive done the job myself before on an old car but I really dont have the time or patience now that I have a little one to look after.

Cheers.

I reckon you would be looking at more than that,
Got to be at least 1.5hours labour, possibly 2.

Most garages charge £45-£60 an hour round my way so Id say at least £80 labour plus parts.

dont use any of those garages again then if they take near 2 hours to change a couple of wishbones

I was quoted 2 hours buy a vw specialist, I done them my self as it was far to much for me.

They will be really cheap arms surely?

I used a set of pattern arms and they only lasted 9months before the rear bush completely ripped apart,

Cheers Barry, I'll bear that in mind. Took me a little longer than that but I'm no pro.

but a decent garage should do it in that time,on the driveway or street is a little harder for the average guy
