Dead simple question.
Are Chip Express diesel tuning boxes any good, or should you avoid at all costs? If so, why?
Thx
Apologies Mods if this in the wrong part of the forum.
Delete if its in the wrong place. Ta
It may not be a case of completely avoiding a tuning box but more the quality of the final output may not match alternatives such as live mapping on a dyno.
Some of the cheap ones on ebay are said to be nothing more than a resistor to spoof the fueling system.
The benefit of ecu mapping with a rolling road session is that it allows for tweaking and gives an indication of what your power output was before and after remapping. Results vary depending on whose Dyno you're on

.
If you pick a reputable tuner they will also have knowledge of the vehicle and the maps which will be important should any problems arise with the vehicle.
The tuning box will only estimate what your output will be, and since your spending money on the item it would be nice to know how much your getting for your money?
As for a car with a DPF on an island as small as Jersey...whatever next
