I have just received confirmation from Audi UK that the winter pack is still available with the cloth seats so no need to panic

With Audi seats or VW ones?  Perhaps I missed something, have we concluded that Audi and VW are similar enough that what applies to one applies to the other?  Or are you just checking so we can all switch to Audi in protest and get the options we want?

As Bear said, if that's true, how comes VW UK can't confirm it about their own brand, but their sister company can ???

My understanding is this Configurator app is gospel.

That app is pants.  It took longer to update the new price list on that than it did on the website!  I would take the app with a very large pinch of salt.

Thats right, that app lives in what I like to call "the land of the plonker".  It still thinks the MFD is a "£135 option" and asking it to "update price and options" leads to random changes or no changes at all and usually leads to a crash when I try to open my saved build.  Oh, and it thinks I can add spoilers galore which I doubt, and there is no heated screen or phone prep options...

Its fun for the pretty pictures and not a lot else.

Yes pearlescent Turquoise is now an option in place of carbon grey

Woohoo!!!!

My uncle's best friends sister's cross dressing boyfriend's dog knows the IT guys who manage the app and they say its 100% accurate ok Rodney

I've said it before, VW are trolling us.  I bet its like that monty python sketch where the pilots broadcast conflicting messages just to laugh at the chaos it causes with their passengers, except in this case its VW reading our threads and then issuing crazy statements so they can laugh at us.  It must be how they cope with life.

My most sincere and heartfelt apologies to your cross dressing dog.  I spoke out of turn due to my impotent rage at my order being delayed, but alas, that is no excuse.

Am I the only one who thinks this situation is really sad. Here we have a couple of cars which will probably be top of their respective classes, that each cost a lot of money, and that we should all be drooling over getting and wowing ourselves with test reviews and videos etc.

Instead VW UK have (for me at least) totally taken the shine off my new car purchases, and TBH, in all the years I've been ordering cars, this is by a good amount, the most unpleasant undertaking yet.

I agree with you.  I had a much better experience with Ford.  That said, I didn't order quite as early as I have with VW.  Also the Ford dealer I used was owned by a member of the Ford Exec Board and considered it a matter of pride to have the best customer service.  Of course if they can set the standard then others should be able to aim to match it.  I guess its a VWUK/Germany problem not the dealer's fault... but you'd think the dealers would kick up a bit of a fuss on our behalf's really.  We're spending something like 1/4 the price of a house with them, you kind of expect more service than you'd get at your local Homebase store when trying to find the right kind of nails really.

Initially when I ordered the car it was cloth with the winter pack, so that I could have the heated seats. Then when I added leather I wasn't aware I was paying 3 figures to heat up my washer nozzles. I found out by accident luckily. Crazy stuff really.

And I must thank you for your original post on the subject way back.  That was what prompted me to call my dealer and pose the question "what exactly does the winter pack I ordered give me?"  When she said just the washer nozzles (after much hand holding to lead her to that answer) I promptly said "that's hardly a good deal, can you remove it please."

So you saved me £300.  Cheers!

No problem

In that case then however, if this lottery win you're expecting comes in sometime in the near future - Could you send a commission my way? Or maybe a crate of Heineken?

Also just one more thing - Could somebody please clarify the Heated Windscreen as well. I can't see it anywhere as an option.

If I ring my dealer and ask for it to be added, can it be done so and if so how much will it be??
