Smashed Galaxy S3, anyone on here any good?
« on: 21 May 2013, 20:58 »
Pissing around in work and I smashed the screen, went to change it with a Youtube guide and its all gone wrong.

Anyone on here know of a reputable place to get it fixed, or shall I just use the wife's upgrade for the S4?

It's covered on house insurance, but its £200 excess and most of the places I have visited online are charging that to replace the screen, digitizer and LCD.

So I'm just weighing up my options really.

my mate lost his s3 and his with lloyds and i told him about this so he upgraded his account to gold and then he told them he lost his phone, obviously not straight away a few weeks later and he had to pay £60 excess and they sent him a new s3.
whats the problem with it?
when replacing the screen did you bend any of the ribbons? if you did then you will have broken the connections inside the ribbon

Not likely, I was making tea at the same time.

Sharki, yeah the ribbon has 'become' detached from the digitizer as it cracked off when I applied pressure to remove the glass from it.

I need the phone to take a picture of it!

Hahahahahaha.

Probably gonna get the S4 this afternoon, get the S3 fixed and then sell on.

Is the screen stuck on the digitizer? If so buy a screen with digitizer (its same as the iphone 4) i had same prob.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-I9300-Lcd-Digitizer-Touch-Screen-Frame-Blue-Grade-B-/190841265942?pt=UK_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2c6f069f16 this is a complete screen with digitizer. Just make sure you dont bend the ribbon as it will break the connection inside it.
