OK well I did get to see the car. And I got to DRIVE IT for 20 mins!! Too good! Just wow! Loved it!

It was a standard 220hp version but was plenty quick.

But it's put a spanner in the works for me. For the following reasons.

1. I can't believe how sexy night blue looks. So much so that I'm thinking about this colour seriously now.

2. I was gonna go for 5 door, but damn does the 3 door look nice in the flesh.

3. Ordered it in DSG but when I drove the manual it felt very nice. Not sure now.

4. Wasn't going to get the ACC, but this car had it and although i couldn't tell the difference between modes that much, I'm wondering if having it made the car drive better anyway cos of the self adjusting dampers.

Verdict: Car is everything I expected. But now I'm more confused than ever about the spec!

Also, funny thing happened at the dealership. Whilst I was waiting for the car to finish the PDI, I realised it had come when all of a sudden I heard sales staff saying "whoa... that's sexy, looks awesome" and there was a real buzz of excitement around the dealership.

Pics and crappy video following shortly...

1. I like the Night Blue, would be very happy with it, but still think the White brings out the GTi lines and features best.

2. My last 2 cars have been 3 door, both look great! but cannot state enough what a royal pain getting passengers in and out is, and 5 door is something I personally am going to enjoy having and to add think the MK7 genuinely holds its lines well in 5 door

3. DSG was only thing that wife would not move on, she loves it and as it has paddles and option to shift from stick then it caters for times I want to take over.

4. I left off ACC originally but more I read on the new v.2 ACC and how it is active on each wheel then more I was convinced on UK roads it was a must have - Ride on my S Line is harsh at times so think I crave comfort more than most here though!

Thing I took from your mini review, is if that is what is bothering you most then that says a lot for how rest and most important things ticked all boxes to not be mentioned negatively.

Thanks for the feedback mjh.

I'm going to drive a MK6 GTI DSG tomorrow. See what it's like. Just need to see if I'll miss the rewarding feel of manual. I live in London, a lot of stop start traffic can be a pain.

I think I should look at a 5 door before deciding. I agree it does hold its lines well, so did the MK 6 5 door GTI I think. 90% of my driving is on my own. But when it does have passengers it will be a pain I guess.

Was going to choose white. But I really need to see one in person. Probably will go for black in the end though.

Not a very good PDI done as still got transport covers on and looks like transport blocks still in front struts. Be careful if you drive that as will be extremely harsh ride

Transport blocks stop the suspension compressing so it doesn't bounce on the transporter.
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Harsh as blocks stop car bouncing on transporter so very very stiff. Odd how plates are on, normally done at PDI
