THE EPIC Caliper paint question

Morning all basically I painted my calipers a few months back in red using hammerite hammered finish but I want them blue now to match my car colour but can I paint over the red using smooth finish or do I need to removed the red paint 1st

Just paint over the top, give them a rub down first and you may need a few coats to get a good coverage.

I would strip it right back as in my experience the two dont stick well.
Plus too much paint holds the heat in more.

Would I get away with it if I use a wire brush to get as much off as I can
