1.8 gti rear shocks

Hello, just bought my first golf.
got it cheap but needs some new rear shocks!
i went to my local parts store and gave them my reg no and expected to it to be simple but they said they had three diffrent variations of what rear shocks i need!

they asked if i had sport suspension. the car is a T reg so its had 14 years of being tinkered with so im not sure what suspension im riding on. i need to know which to buy becuase they need replacing asap!

Its a 1999 1.8 mk4 gti - no turbo.

Seen as you dot l ow what tinkering has been done the only way to find out if it is on standard suspension is to have a look
