Cleaning Interior Plastic
« on: 17 May 2013, 11:54 »
I have recently got a Golf Mk6 and have been following the guides on here for cleaning. Everything is going perfectly, but have trouble trying to properly clean the interior fascia plastic panels. I have included some photos of the part I mean. I did use a microfiber cloth and some cleaning fluid but always seem to be left with streaks. Any ideas of what the best thing it to assist in cleaning these...

Baby wipes for everything then the smallest amount of something like AG Fast Glass wiped off with an MF cloth for the insert panels, radio touch screen etc.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Hi

Baby wipes good all rounder.  I also use Chemical Guys Inner Clean Spray, which I've found gives a good streak free finish if you buff off with a microfiber, nice scent too.  Previously have tried Meguiars Ultimate Protectant but found this left annoying hard to remove streaks.

Carpro Perl. Good for engine bay and exterior plastics, and tyres as well.

You're not alone.  My boot currently boasts - quick detailer, glass cleaner, interior cleaner, leather cleaner, baby wipes and an assortment of microfibres - there's barely any room for the shopping

I use CG Inner Clean and think it does a very good job and smells nice.   Satin finish, so not shiny, easy to buff, no residue.   I use it on whole interior, in addition to baby wipes on leather and occasional Auto Finesse hide leather cleaner.    Always have a bottle in the car.

Tried Meguiars Ultimate Protectant but found it left a residue and too shiny for my liking.

For interior glass I use Auto Finesse glass cleaner which seems fine.
