temp sender
« on: 07 August 2005, 14:11 »
replaced the little bolt thingy yesterday that measures the temp of teh water as the old one was broken(top snapped off) only thing is im sure water should come out the hole as it has done on previous cars and on the other mk2 i had it did although its a differnt type that doesnt screw in just has a clip, other thing is has audi on the side and doesnt read the temp right it gets to near the thin white line on the right of the guage now before the fan kicks in i know the switch is ok on the rad as its brand new and i tested it on another golf so i can only assume the temp sender is either not reading the temp right or that its not the right one for the car.

Do you have the part # from the sender?

I found on my driver water came out when I replaced the temp senders (in the flang @ the front of the block)  But didn't when I did the blue temp sender on my digifant 8v.  I put this down to the GTI having the later round tank, and possibly the coolant was a little low.
