Wheel spacers
« on: 14 May 2013, 19:30 »
Are the wheel fitments the same on the mk7? Just wondering if my 10mm spacers would fit? I think we've probably spoken about this before?

I've been wondering the same thing.
I have a set of H&R 10mm's waiting for the mk7 but I know the Scirocco had slightly different hubs on the back so the spigot is different. So I'm expecting to have to invest in another set.
That's if I keep the standard wheels on.
Will bolt the BBSs on and see how they look but quite keen to keep the mk7 fully OEM looking.

One thing about the 7 is although the track is supposedly wider it does look like the wheels are tucked in the arches a bit more than the 6 so may well invest in a set of spacers.
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

Forgive my ignorance, but are there any negative implications to fitting spacers? Increased tyre wear? More strain on suspension components? Arch rubbing on bumps?

Tyre wear shouldn't be an issue.
Minimal strain on suspension if any as we're not talking super wide 'stance' show scene looks here, just bringing the wheel out to fill the arch a bit.
No arch rubbing if you use sensible size.

Just remember to tell your insurance as it is a modification.

I've had no issues on mine and as said above they're only 10mm to bring the wheel in line with the arch a bit.

Did your Scirocco spacers fit?  I'm looking to get a set but not many people list them for the Mk7 yet...

Noticed that GrahamFR posted on a different thread on 17/12/13 that he had fitted 15mm spacers, I am thinking of doing this but dont want it to look like a teenagers Corsa in Tesco carpark  Am I right to think its just the rear that the spacers are fitted? I looked last night and the front dont look too bad, 10mm or 15mm?  :undecided:
