drastic oil loss but no leaks/pipes etc
« on: 11 May 2013, 20:13 »
hi to all golf mk4 owners
i have had my golf tdi 150 for over 3  brill years my subject for advise is on oil  i change the oil every 6 months i was driving to work as normal when out of the blue as they say the engine oil light check came on as it was 5.30 in the morning  i carried on to work just 8 miles away
after work i dipped the oil stick to find it almost out just a smidgen on the stick this is baffling as the car in 3 years never consumes oil or water and 3 weeks ago i changed the oil putting in the 4.5lts there is no loss of power or any more smoke than normal diesel no loose pipes or oil any ware can anyone give any suggestions please

DERVs will naturally burn oil, it is in their nature.

Perhaps it has been burning oil and then gotten to low and then warned you, you have obv refilled now so just keep an eye on it. Just the underside for a leak from your sump or from the turbo oil line.

you would think you would get a loss of power if the shaft broke??? I would never carry on driving after the oil light came on. no matter how late it made me for work.
