golf tdi 150 plastic pipe loose in sump
« on: 11 May 2013, 20:03 »
hi to all mk4 owners  hope this is in the right section sorry if not
i have a problem i need some advise on i bought a 12v oil extractor pump that you put a tube down the dip stick to suck the oil out due to the plastic pipe not being long enough i attached  about a 10 to 12 inch hard plastic tube onto end of tubing all went great till i pulled the pipe out and lost this end piece "D'oh!"
now i tried removing the orange tube part of the dip stick to see if i could see the tube but i could not remove this orange part and did not wont to break it i then drained the oil out and tried fishing for the pipe in the sump with some wire  but no joy i could nor feel it in there .
my question is will this pipe cause any damage if i leave it in it may be still in the end of the dipstick tube or the sump but as Ive tried unsuccessfully at both what advise can any members give me please

Ooppppsy!

You won't do that again.

I'd remove the sump. You cannot have something like that potentially floating around in bowels of your engine!

Next time just drain to oil for a change  :lipsrsealed:
