big bumpers... HELP!!!

This may be an easy one i just havnt looked into it. Couldnt find anything on search of this site though.

Basically i have a big bumper skin i picked up from a mate and want to fit it to my mk2 16v but it doesnt have the metal inner mounting frame thingy. So;

1. Are these frames specific to big bumpers?

if no...

2. Can i use the one from my current small bumper?

if yes...

3. Can i purchase new inner only from VAG dealer/GSF/Euro car parts?

If it was me I'd go trawling thru my local scrappies, but is it genuine or pattern? Because I'm pretty sure the skins are slightly different between pattern & genuine bumpers!

Genuine bumpers have a moulding mark at the top corners of the black texured bit

you can buy the bumper bar from VW but your better off testing the skin against your small bumper one first then nabbing one from the scrappy

if the skin is genuine then it will only fit on a genuine bumper bar.

a genuine skin clips to the bumper bar
a pattern one screws to the bumper bar

Genuine VAG front skin - not tried it with a small bumper bar - the scrapyards down here are not that overflowing with golfs... let alone gti's - no big bumper models there at current...

Anyone got one left from a smashed front bumper?
