mk 3 that runs on kangaroo juice

i drove my mates L reg mk3 8v gti today because he said it drives like sh!t and he was right,when you pull away its very jumpy like its on kanga juice.what things can we try,any info would be great.

simple stuff first I guess... clean air filter? good spark? injector cleaner?

yeah he has done that,new filter,leads,plugs,dizzy cap,rotor arm,injector cleaner.water temp sender.has the mk3 got a electronic gizmo that makes the pull away smoother(i'm sure i read about it once),if so where is it located??

thats the best mk3 ive seen..ever! its just clean and subtle.. :cool:

Try unplugging the MAF (small electronic box just after the air intake) and see if it makes any difference. If it does, then it's knackered. You can try taking it off and cleaining it up, or just buy a reconditioned one like I did (Car Transplants in Cheshire dod me one for £50).

Took me months to work out what it was...Post back to see if that fixes it.

YEp mine did that and I changed loads of bits, ended up unplugging the maf whic helped so took the maf out and carefully cleaned up the hotwires with petrol and a cotton bud. Been fine ever since.

many thanks,we unplugged the maf and sure enough the car pulled away with no probs,looks like he has found one,he is gonna swap them round this weekend and see if it works.
