Old Mk3's are a lot lighter than when they were new, so they go faster anyways :grin:

Seriously though, there is a sweet spot (bath tub) where the car has run in and has lower friction so lose less power in the working of the engine and transmission. This is down to service and maint as to how long it lasts and as to when wear is sufficient to reduce output through say compression loss and and reduced drive efficiency.
Classic TG though, Jezza had side show bob hair :grin:

Yep old Top gear was how it should be nowadays.

Mines on 43k so hoping it got more to give yet but I doubt it  :grin:

my 94 with 2E engine went like the cloppers up till i scrapped it.... and it had 240k miles on the clock.....

was still pulling strong when accelerating at 120mph..... when i lifted off since my winter tyres were rated only 110mph.... and that was a FULLY packed estate (table behind front seat for safety, every last cm3 behind was filled from floor to roof).
