RNS 510 Firmware Update
« on: 09 May 2013, 10:17 »
Does anyone know where I can get hold of the firmware updates for the RNS510?

Also, how do I check which firmware version I'm running at the moment?

Ta!

I'd be interested in doing this too. Any info would be much appreciated.

I managed to get it done last night up to v3980 and put v9 maps on this morning.  Actually quite a pain free experience.

Is there any benefit in going to the 4xxx versions?  I know I'd need to recode via VCDS which is the only thing stopping me at the moment.

I have an older unit that when I press the setup button doesnt show the secret menu. I took the unit out and it says the unit is 1 T0 035 680 B, SW 1120. Do you know which firmware updates I can use without bricking the unit? I have just updated the maps to version 9 and was hoping to get 7 digit postcode search but this isnt the case. I assume thats because its the original firmware?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Don't take this as gospel but i think that's a B unit.

http://www.my-gti.com/3374/volkswagen-rns-510-firmware-upgrade-and-information has info on firmwares and compatibility- you can upgrade them but I think you're unit may need recoding with VCDS after the update.

Can I have some advice on this subject?
I have a Version C with SW 2660 (I think).
Do I need to update to 3810 before upgrading to 4020?
Thanks.
