intermitent winter fault - loss of power
« on: 06 August 2005, 09:48 »
i've written all this in another post about coils. but incase you don't read that here it is ...

the problem, a complete loss of power, was happening quite often in the winter when it was cold.  it has only happened once since, on a hotish morning with the engine running hot.

the reason i think it is an electrical fault is that, once the loss of power occurs i just pull over turn the ignition off, start her up again, and all is fine...?????

during the loss of power i'm sure the car is still firing on all cylinders as it doesn't feel lumpy.
but it's almost like the timing is well out..???

dist cap/ rotor arm/ ht leads/ plugs are all good, so i'm thinkin try the coil....???

or the ecu...????

any ideas????? thanx J.

not sure if any of the mk2 ecu's had a limp home mode but does sound abit odd might want to check a few of your earth leads etc coil and ecu problems should be constant not intermittant and more common in winter.
