Folding mirrors
« on: 08 May 2013, 18:19 »
Think I'm being a dumb ar$e as cant find this anywhere (and helpfully the GTI brochures are now not available online ) but does anyone know if the mirrors fold automatically when you turn off the ignition or will it be like the mk 6 when you have to twizzle the button? And this feature is standard, right?

Folding mirrors are standard, and I believe you can set them to fold automatically via an option in the infotainment screen.

I know that there has been some discussion recently on folding mirrors from the keyfob and updates to newer models. I picked my car up today and hey presto! Mine folds on locking from the key and unfolds from ignition on.

That's what they all do pal. I think people were looking for them to unfold when unlocking the car rather than on ignition

Seems like SA pulled the short straw, no folding mirrors on mine as standard.

Ok, in earlier discussions I thought it was folding on both ignition on and off. Thanks

It is a bit of a mystery why they seem to change the standard set up from one country to the next

True and I can't see why folding mirrors won't be a standard across the GTI range, oh well, we at least get full leather as standard

That's definitely a bonus but I suppose in a hot climate it makes sense to have leather.

Wish I could bring my car with me when I come across next March. Would love to drive it over chapmans peak. Scary but brilliant
