GTI Mark 7 seats query
« on: 06 May 2013, 13:03 »
Hi all,

New here, and have the 3 door Mk on my shortlist.

One thing I can't get clarified from my local dealer or from the current pricelist is the driver's seat on the 3 door.

Electric seats are mentioned in the pricelist, with 12 way adjustment, but this isn't marked as an option for the GTI, just on other models.   Leather seats are an option for the GTI, but electric adjustment isn't mentioned.   Even the dealer can't answer!!

The question then is:   does the leather option on the GTI driver's seat come as standard with electric adjustment?

Cheers,
David.

I don't think the leather option has electric adjustment, only the 12 way on lower models gets that.

According to the latest price list from the VW site - only SE and GT 5 door models have the electronic seat option.  The Vienna leather for GTI/GTD has manual seat adjustments.

Unless this is a mistake on their price list

Talking of the seats, one thing I don't get and I think is a missed opportunity is the extending seat squab. Most of the Golfs competitors seats have this, and even it's DNA sister, the new Audi A3 has this in S-Line and Sports trims.

At over 6ft tall, I have quite long legs, and whilst I find my current scirocco chairs to be quite comfortable, I do think the squabs are a little short for full support. when I was thinking of an A3 S-Line, to be honest the seats were one of the things that attracted me to it, half leather as standard and extending seat bases. Don't know why VW opted not to do this on their flagship Golf models ?

I was sure VW advertised the fact it had extending seat squabs. I had never heard of this before and it stuck in my head when I read one of the many reviews. Something along the lines of how the MK7 seats had been redesigned and actually showed someone pulling the squab out!!
I'll try and retrace my steps and see if I can find it

Not had a chance to look but came across this picture that looks like the seat can be extended.
May be for overseas cars only though!!
