Hi all am I right in saying to remove the rear boot lock on my mk2 that I have to take the off the trim that surrounds the lock (covers the number plate bulbs ) if this is right then is there any were I can buy new bolts and the plastic clips because the 4 bolts have rusted and rounded off 
Yes, you have to remove the tailgate plinth, as it traps the lock in position, the lock
should have a thin piece of foam gasket that traps against the tailgate, this stops it rattling when you shut the tailgate, and cuts down on water entering the tailgate, just use a plasticine type sealer to replace the gasket if it disintegrates
The screws and clips are available from the Dealer, or VW Heritage, you may have a problem with the square holes that the clips fit into corroding! if this is the case, you may need to use another type of fixing!
