Have you tried using a flash? All mine are shot with a flash and a small softbox/diffuser

Occasionally, I have an EX430 II when the lavender in my front garden comes out the Bee's make fantastic photography as they are more stationary. I think my neighbour thinks I am weird sticking this giant camera lens and inch or two away from a Bee.

Yeah the must think the same of me, I use the 70-200L and a 430EXII with a soft box velcroed on.

It's quite a heavy setup, have to shoot handheld as bugs don't stay still for long!

I probably could have done with a deeper DOF.

600D with an EF to FD macro converter and an FTQL 50mm 1.8.
