Autowatch 160RLI
« on: 30 April 2013, 19:50 »
I have been stripping out the Golf in preparation for the sill being welded on and to reduce weight, all the central locking is out as are the electric window motors and so on.
However I now have an issue with the alarm/immobiliser on the car, I can get the car to turn over but not fire, I have got a spark but no fuel, using the meter I have checked the wires going to the fuel pump, initially as the key is turned the fuel pump gets 12 volts, after one second the voltage disappears, this must have something to do with the immobiliser.

So does anybody know how to remove the damn thing?

 Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply, I have managed to find a wiring diagram for fitting so this weekend will be wiring weekend to see if I can remove the damn thing and repair all the cuts in the original wiring.

And have a look at the brakes on the wifes car as I boiled them at Castle Combe last weekend!

I will be in there tomorrow with the snips and a soldering iron!  Bottle of water too.

I might of acquired another Golf too, a MK IV, V6 4 Motion 76k full history and it was a snip at £300

Needs a steering rack, is this a big job? never done one before, the one that is in is pitted and leaks oil.

Hooray!!

Damn immobiliser is gone, removed, no more!!!!   AND it was dead easy to remove, I am glad I wasn't the one who paid to have it installed.

 Thanks for your advice.
