On Saturday there I was sat eating my McD's with my girlfriend in my car when she put my milk, sugar & stirrer on top of the cigarette lighter/ash tray swing lid which was open at the time.  The thin wooden stirrer however slid down between the openings & I tried to prise it out of where it was stuck but it just went in further then eventually disappeared!

Now it is worrying me that it will end up somewhere & ultimately damage the car wherever it ends up, is that possible? The car drives normal & I've not had any warning lights come up so do we think it's fine/safe & will it just be a case of it may drop out by itself?

I know it's a bizarre one guys but the Mrs accidently dropped it behind the lighter tray thing, is it anything to be worried about?

Nice and easy one.

You can leave it in there or...

Remove the gear leaver gaiter and then undo the torx screw. Disconnect the switches and you can then lift the ashtray up and out.

Be careful not to snag any wires.

With the filthy state of the interior I don't know why you're worried about one measly stirrer. Get it cleaned man.

Lol! So be told! In all seriousness I'm sure someone on here with ETKA could show the part breakdown. Failing that sweet talk the dealer you got it from or their valeters as they often remove stuff like this to clean/replace ash trays etc.

As Buck says - if you want to get it out, then it's really simple.

Put your hands in the gaiter round the gear stick, and pull the plastic up.  You can then turn the gaiter inside out over your gear stick.  This will reveal a couple of torx screws on the edge of the ashtray.  I think they're T20 from memory?
Remove the screws, and you should now be able to lift the ashtray out.  It'll have the cables attached for your ESP and Parking Sensor switches, so be careful.  You can unclip them and remove the whole assembly - or leave them attached and try and get your stirrer out.

Alternatively - just leave it.  There's nothing down there that's likely to get damaged by a small piece of wood!

I had a pencil fall in much the same place. Annoyed me at the time but I just left it as I couldn't be bothered with the hassle.
You'll soon forget about it.
