Question on Golf variations?
« on: 05 August 2005, 00:04 »
Hi Guys.

I've just spent a long time doing a 1.8 8v => 2.0 8v (2e, 1.8 head)

All finally fitted today and found the bottom end was gone.

My golf (86) is badly rotton so i want to take the coilovers, engine tsr/jetex exhaust and a few other bits onto a jetta or something.

I know engine will fit in a mk2 jetta, but what other cars (older the better) will the bits fit on?

I'm looking to do it before the end of the decent weather (!) ends.

Any idea's would, cheers

Dont know alot about it.. but i thought must bits on the Mk2 Golf were the same as the jetta, not sure about exhaust though, isnt a jetta longer than a golf??

Ive got a few questions for ya bout the conversion also.. Ive got a PB head, and fitted it to an ADY 2L Mk3 bottom end. What problems did u have? If you got time would really appreciate some input into the following.

Head Gasket, i am assuming i can use a normal Mk3 or Mk2 one.
Head Bolts... what do i use Mk2 or Mk3 ones?
Timing Belt, I believe is the same on the Mk2/Mk3's
Fan belts, i believe on the mk3 are different to Mk2's but as im using mk3 water pump and steering pump i dont think this should cause a problem.
Steering pump + Water Pump, are connnections the same to piping?
I'm being assured that my PB gearbox will fit the ADY bottom end.. DId yours? or did u use Mk3 Box??

How come you didnt rebuild the 2L bottom end while she was out of the car, shells and bearings aint that expensive are they????

Cheers
