Car Servicing
« on: 29 April 2013, 18:59 »
Hi!

So the cars due a service and I'm thinking to myself is it really worth taking it to VW, who probably aren't going to do any work to the car knowing my local garage. It's still under warranty so the only thing that's stopping me going elsewhere is the stamp!

Should I take it to VW or to a reliable garage that I know needs the business so will do the work

Cheers

Tom

Personally I would stick with VW

I am using a specialist as my car is modded and I know the car is getting properly looked after

Your location says Manchester. Around those parts an AwesomeGTI stamp in the service book is generally regarded more highly than a VW one, particularly to people "in the know". They'll use all genuine parts if you ask them to.

Another one for Awesome if you go the specialist route, used them in the past but not for servicing though, great set up there

i always use VW Approved specialist indy garages for servicing and fitting mods etc, they tend to do a much better job,
The only thing with that is, if you have any major problems with the car after it has run out of warranty, VW will not 95% of the time give you any good will gestures towards the cost of fixing it,

My car was 2 weeks out of warranty and developed a DSG oil leak, even tho in the past 4-5 years i have spent 150k with the same dealer on vans and cars, they would not fix it !, customer service it means jack sh!t to them imo
If they did a proper job i would of taken it to them for servicing etc but they don't !! In the big dealerships its all down to profits not service sadly,

In brief, if you want a proper job take it to an indy garage (but be prepared to pay for repairs out of warranty)
If you want crap service, work not even done that you get charged for, damaged car from them kerbing it or washing it, etc....
(But you will prob get good will out of warranty)

The choice is yours

If my car breaks i am prepared to pay to get it fixed, so i use an indy garage

if i was buying a second hand car and one car had a book full of Awesome Gti stamps and the other had Dealer stamps,
I know which one i would pick
