They are a bit stronger but if your car is not putting out 200+ BHP there is no need.  Glen's machine pushes

195BHP and he uses OEM clutch.  Ob Kells machine is big power so he uses a Vr clutch.  From all the  advise

from a few helpful people on here between the two I went for the 16v Sachs clutch as my car will never be

putting out that power  :cool

I am sure Brad's MK3 is pushing 300bhp+

Len.....I would see about getting a 20vt engine put in. Honestly mate you wont regret it.... mine is fantastic. 0-60 I would say around the late 5's to early 6's and will pull with ease to 120mph and can top out at....Well off the clock!  Also....My 20vt is loads better than my VR6 on fuel and I would say about the same as a GTI 16v if driven with care..... Certainly are know where near as bad on fuel as Scooby's and Cossies and performance is about the same as a UK spec Scoob.  Off topic here but don't you just hate these lads with VTR VTS Saxo things that say there car can beat a Scoob....Errrr, no!!

Wonder how long my clutch will last being a cheapy

You can have all the power you want and be able to overtake most people in a straight line.... But if you can't drive then having big power is a waste of money and useless.

Very true if you are going to own a car of such power then you need to be a good driver.  I have been driving 22 years and have owned many cars including a few Cossies, one of which was a pure monster. Bloke I work with has an STI Scoob and was rr'd at 289bhp, on the country lanes he is all over me in my 224bhp Golf MK3, but MK3 Golf's have never been that good when it comes to handling compared to the likes of the 205 GTI, R5 GT Turbo and obviously Scoobs and Evo's that are 4WD. In a straight line I can almost keep with him till 120mph then his will pull on me. I wont even go out in his Scoob, scares the life out of me!  I did borrow it for 2 weeks last year when he went on holiday.....Collected 2 of my mates as we were going to the gym. I am 6ft and 16st 2lbs as very in to my Bodybuilding but these lads I train with make me look like a dwarf......Classic to see as a load of steroid using bodybuilders got out of the car looking grey!  I would love one but running costs are just stupid. My ex girlfriend had a Ferrari 348ts and the Scoob costs more to run as in petrol, even if driven with care!!

Why do people think a stronger clutch will be needed for higher power?
It's torque that kills clutches, not power.

Brad could use a higher clamping torque clutch, as could others with a re-mapped 1.8T' turbo 16v or supercharged/turbocharged VR6.
But a standard 16v? Or standard VR6?
Erm...not required.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Very much doubt you'll get to 200. let alone plus, without major work

But a sachs 16v clutch is a £1 dearer than a VR one.

£110 here
