The most 'coupe-like' image of the new mk7 GTI

This image of the 3 door in pure white is the most coupe-like I've seen so far. Lovely!

Agree/Disagree?

Nice angle.

Having seen the Paris shots of the three door with the nice sculpting above the rear window line and having always hankered after a Scirocco (and having always been of the opinion that the mk5/6 3 door cars look a bit 'dumpy') I made up my mind that a three door was going to be ordered if I went for a mk7 as I love the mk1/4 style rear window.

Then having seen all the press reports of five door models my sensible side was giving me grave doubts all week and I was beginning to think I'd made a mistake.

Now I'm glad I bit the bullet on a 3 door and went against my wife's arguments with the justification that "real GTIs only have three doors"...

Still not seen a 3 door mk7 of any kind in the flesh.

3 door indeed looks amazing.

I needed the practicality of the 5 door though, but the 3 door is definitely the best looking.

Had the same dilemma. But after seeing the press release pictures of the 5 door I definitely prefer the 5 door, and I'm not just talking about practicality. It just looks more complete to me.

I think the angled cut of the rear window in the 3 door looks really nice, but, as said above, there is something about the golf and 5 doors that just works.  I don't often use them, but it's nice to have the practicality.  Besides, with 3 doors I don't like the heavier weight of them and the narrower opening angles you get with them being longer.

3 Door definitely look better, but some people need the practicality of the 5 door, it's good that VW still offer both unlike the Focus ST where you're stuck with 5 Door only.

All great replies.

Personally i love the look of the 3 door as its more coupe-like. I love the different angle they've put on the C-pillar. Marks it out from the five door. Credit to the designers.

Anyhow, getting the 3 door is going to soften the blow for me as I'm coming from a fully fledged coupe Scirocco. However, it did cause a few cross words with the misses as she really wanted me to go for the more practical 5 door. But, I'm paying... so nuff said.

Agree, for the first time ever for a Golf (and I'm talking Mk 5s and 6s), I prefer the looks of the 3dr Mk 7 by some margin over the 5dr. I think they've styled the back very well on the 3dr.

Practicality wise I much prefer the 5dr and have always bought 5 doors in the past with no regrets.  However with the MK 7 I'm going to have a hard time deciding

I've no doubt I'll regret it too apart from wash days when I have two less door shuts to scrub!!
