you're omitting quite a bit of information here.... and no need to open 2 threads in different section... many here read both.

which engine code or at least how many horse power?
have you (had) fault codes checked?
did you get tb alignment done??
does it run normal when warm?
revs to 6k or only about 5k2?

not all engines got relay 30.

I will have to see what engine code is tomorrow in the light. Think it's 60hp

idle normal or erratic?

if it idles erratic have you properly cleaned TB and got it adapted with VCDS?

I got the car about 4 weeks ago i put £20 in petrol and got 64 miles. on the driver home i see the tickover was dropping really low went coming to stop and was running bit raff .it was plug in to vag.com and the only thing come was the idle controll value  so put new throttle body on made it bit better so I went done the plugs ht leads temp sensor relay 167 mine don't have relay 30? And the sensor on the side of the inlet and its still the same and doing loads of petrol. I was told it didn't need to be plug to have tickover reset ?

putting xx£ in and counting miles is not really the most scientific way to check your fuel consumption, especially with a mk3 fuel gauge. fill up completely and mark mileage... then drive until it's fairly empty and fill up. from that calculate your l/km or l/mi.

who told you the tb doesn't need adaptation? if it is a 60hp from 97 you will need adapt it. and no disconnecting the battery is not a tba... also where did you get that 'new' throttle from? could be having broken gears in idle stabilisation as well.
yours doesnt have a relay 30 cos it doesn't need one.

would suggest a full diagnosis with vcds - that's not just checking fault codes but also if all parameters the engine gets make sense, i.e. temperatures from all temp senders, voltages from lambda,.....

I was told by the garage that the mk3 don't need to be reset its the mk4 and up tbh i dont think they know what i was going on about. Throttle body was from vw. The bloke I got the car from said the lamba sensor was new. I did fill it right up and got 210 miles. Think the best thing to do is get it plug in again some where else. Thanks for the help mate. Just need to sort out the petrol I got the 1.4 so it was good on petrol it's costing me boom to run I might as well got vr6 lol
