Neither.  They'll be junk.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

I have joms and there not that bad, anyone who says otherwise has too much money on their hands. They lower your car, they are stiff but not that much over stock suspension. Get new bushes all round and your good to go.

they are both crap in the handeling department.

decent quality gas struts are far superior in the damping departments.     anyone who thinks cheep coilovers are an upgrade just had really knackerd suuspention beforehand,  a GTi will handel better on fresh stock shocks and springs than it will on cheep coilovers.   then try  better shocks

i would avoid coilovers at all costs unless been abel to raise and lower car was an absolute must ( but the cheep ones sieze anyway so no more adjustable than a strut )  handeling wise you only need to upgrade to coilovers when you've got inverted monotube struts  and decide there not quite good enough for your race car
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

I too am looking to lower our type 19 over the next couple of weeks.

Lowering is a must, ride quality not too much of a concern as its hardly used and only for short journeys. Its purely about the looks!

I have seen the JOMs, considered lowered springs with standard shocks and just seen some adjustable spring kits that fit over the original shocks.

I think I will go with the JOM ones as they seem reasonably popular for budget lowering.
