So, technically my job title is Engineer, but its R&D and my background is science so it could pass for scientist.  Think it makes any difference to the quote you get?

This is very interesting because I never chose company director (which I am) and always chose IT consultant because its an IT company.

Does that site let you compare two specific options (i.e. I want to see what I'd get quoted if I say scientist, rather than engineer).  Can't seem to figure out how to make it show that.  I can enter each option but then it just suggests other options for comparison which aren't the ones I want to see!

It works by changing your profession but keeping it legal.
So rather than say your a Television Engineer you would say you were an Electronics Engineer which would save you £43 on a £400 insurance premium.

For you, put in Engineer and then look through the options to see if Scientist is higher or lower.

Unfortunately it doesn't give "scientist" as an option.  Or if it did I missed it, but pretty sure it just gave various types of "engineer".  Support I can always fill in compare the meerkat twice with the two options and see what happens!

Yes but then it is comparing scientist to other kind of scientist, not to engineer.  I can compare types of engineer to each other and the same for scientist, but not scientist to engineer. 

The problem is, since it asks for your current quote it normalises to this each time, so there is no way to make a direct comparison of different searches.  Or maybe I'm being thick and not doing it right, I'll check again.

I was being thick, I found the button that lets you specify the second profession directly.  Gave me 1.8% cheaper.  Not massive but perhaps playing for a bit can do better!
