heavy clutch pedal
« on: 24 April 2013, 19:33 »
Hello there,
I have just bought my 1st Mk 2 GTI and it is a hoot to drive. One or two things i need to fix but nothing to troublesome other than the clutch. It works fine but is really stiff and wears my leg out quickly. Is this normal or is it a common problem.

  Cheers
 Raymond.

Welcome, get a good quality replacement cable... Dealer part or GSF, but ask for the best quality! if this doesn't cure your problem, then you're looking at a new clutch kit... start with the cheapest item first, but always a good policy to fit a new cable as well as a clutch kit, so any future issues are addressed

If the car still has the auto adjust cable then replace it with a manual one.

Thanks for all the help, new cable fitted today and it has transformed the car,so much easier to work now.
Only took 5 mins so i cleaned the plugs as they were a bit sooty ( little rich maybe,or just the short runs i have been in it) and that too made a huge improvement.

Cheers
