Office chairs.
« on: 24 April 2013, 12:50 »
My office chair is on it's last legs and I need to buy a new one. It got me to thinking about buying a nice comfy leather car seat and modifying it to fit on my current chair base, rather than just going into Staples and buying an ordinary one.

Has anyone done this or got one. I wonder how comfortable it would be considering that some days I can spend up to 10 hours sat in it.

Not much hassle at all. Just 4 bolts

That's pretty much what I had in mind. I've just found some Sierra Cosworth Recaros not too far away from me.

What I'm wondering tho' is how comfortable would one be to sit in all day?

IKEA is the best place for office chairs, nice and firm, fully adjustable (even the 50 quid ones) and really stylish

Ikea is a 90 mile round trip for me. I can't be bothered with all that.

There's a chair they sell in IKEA that costs about £150, but the important thing is it's rated for 24 hour use.  It also comes with a 10 year warranty, so you're effectively paying £15 a year.  I think it's called the Markus or something.

Cant see a car seat lending intself to be a comfy desk chair. The seating and body position is quite different. Maybe in a living room, but at a work station I'd prefer something intended for the task. A few miles to Ikea sounds easier to me!
