Help with engine compatability please

Hi everyone!,can someone help me please, I currently own a 1999 mk3 golf 1.8gti engine code ADF,iam finding it hard to get my hands on this engine, my question is are there any other straight swap engines and the codes that I can use in this model? Any and all help would be greatly welcomed.

Or a Mk4 1.8 20v?

I'm going to guess either the engine code is wrong or the car has had an engine swap.. that is of course if that link is correct.

On the v5 it's 1.8 gti manufactured in 1999 so Iam assuming its a mk3, ile get some pics up later

Sorry I've been told the right code is AGN which should make it a 1.8 20v, would still like to know if I can straight swap any other engines though, thanks
